A unique
coastal city rich in history,
Norwalk is located on Long Island Sound
between Darien and Westport. This community of 32 square miles with a
population of almost 80,000 is a city of contrasts -- offering the
advantages of urban living while preserving the beauty of its rural
areas.
Education - Norwalk's schools reflect the
diversity and high expectations of the community they serve. The
district's priority is to offer quality instructional programs
responsive to each student's interests and abilities. Exemplary
programs in 12 elementary schools (grades K-5), four middle schools
(grades 6-8), two high schools, one Vocational Arts Center, and one
Head Start facility serve nearly 10,000 students. The parochial system
includes one school (Kindergarten through 8th grade). Also within the
town are numerous nursery schools and Norwalk Community
College.
